My cellphone history

I had a cell phone ever since I was in 8th grade. Not because my parents were rich and just wanted to spoil their kids, they gave us the phone because they worked all the time and, what do you expect, we wanted it for emergency reasons ;), right?

Just like many of you, my first phone was Nokia and we would text, call and play snakes on it. We had to buy ringtones from third party that sounded really nothing like the song. But it was cool and it was new, so I loved it and it served the purpose.

But soon after, flip phone era was in. But, nothing really cool was
cool was coming out. It was smaller the better kind of era and it had
to be a flip phone, so I got a Samsung phone that was simple but ok
work with. More games were on it, ringtones became more realistic.
One thing I liked about this phone was that it had display section
on the front cover. Just in case, mom or dad called.

But, Samsung phone wasn't cool. It became a plain phone soon enough. I had to up the ante and I wanted something not many people had. They had T-Mobile Sidekick out, but it was too expensive, so I went with something similar but different. Also, I had obsession of Motorola phones, so I got my first Motorola phone. This was an awesome phone.  Front cover had display screen, camera, and number pad. If you open it, it became a 2 way, JAVA, and Bluetooth connection. But then the hinges weren't so great so it kinda flapped around. But most definitely a start for a great new era.

Motorola A630

Did I mention my obsession with Motorola? Motorola is such a              great company. I love their edgy design and not afraid to try new            things. I think the phone on the left really stands out in cell phone
history. This was a game changer. So slick, top of it's game.
Motorola Razr V3. Front camera, front display, Very slick, slick
but large number pad, good battery life, voice dialing. The
hardware itself was beautiful and I wouldn't mind using this phone
just for phone calls, even now (I should get one for back up). Love        it.

                                                            Motorola RAZR V3I

This was probably around 2006. I wanted more "smarter" phone.
I wanted to go on line, check e mails not through mobile website,
download and play online games, write long text, and kind of like
PDA. This one was of first Microsoft's cell phone approach. It came
with pen for touch screen function, MicroSD available, internet
     explorer(MS), bluetooth, wi-fi, usb charger, voice command/ record/
dial, etc., etc..............This phone sucked. Too slow, trying to do too
much. Used it for e mails and internet use, other than that, I used my
RAZR for most text, calls, games. I promised myself to never buy
                                                           another Microsoft phone again.

                                                           T-Mobile Wing.

Here comes the titan.........

After an year of Apple's, great, iPhone was introduced. Google decide to play with big boys. From T-Mobile, HTC Nexus was introduced as first Android software phone. But I didn't get the Nexus, I got...

G1. It may not been the best designed phone. The front buttons were too small except for the menu button. Mouse was a good touch. But slide out phone with keypad was nice. Big thing; software. This was my first user experience of Android and I loved it. It was love at first sight. I had people around me use iPhones, but didn't suit me well. I felt limited by iPhone, but G1, I got use to it very quick. But it was somewhat of a bulky phone with case on it. I kept it for a while tho. I kept it about 1 1/2 year with screen not cracked, and 1/2 with screen cracked.
From this point on, Im going with Android.

In 2010, I got myself a Xmas present and it was Mytouch 4g. Love it, I still have it. If it updated to jellybean or I would be still using it. Good front and real camera. I love the hard buttons, so it's not affected by software when you are doing alot of things. Download recommendation. I love that it ask me if I want to download the video from YouTube(or any video site), or just watch it. Not really a large storage, but it have enough to fit few movies, thousands of songs, and lots and lots of pictures. Mouse in the middle is ok, even though I liked the one on G1 better because it's a hardware not censor detecting one. When I was buying this phone, I was either going to get this one or G2 but after I looked at all the specs(and I mean, everything. Guy at T Mobile couldn't answer some), I went with this. The deal breaker for me was simple, even though I asked lots of question about specs.; front face camera. Screw going into the room and facing your mirror to take photos, front face is where it's at. Also, this phone is made of slick metal, so it never really break. Scratches here and there but nothing major. I once left the phone top of my car, my father took the car for the night and he drove 30 miles in freeway going 60+ in rain. Of course, I freaked out because I couldn't find my phone. When my father came home after work, he mentioned that the alarm went off. We both looked for the phone thinking it might be inside the car but it wasn't, it was actually top of the car. So, this phone was on top of the car in rain, going 60+ MPH, and sat there for more than 8 hrs. It worked like nothing happened. I still have this phone just in case for backup. This is a great phone. I don't really get the Genius button, but other than that, it is a great phone.

Then, I had some financial issues and I had to get out of the T-Mobile contract. I used Pre-Paid phones for awhile. Then, I got to join my friends phone plan and now, Im with Sprint and finally a time to get a new phone. After having all these phones, I know alot about phones. I could have gotten iPhone 5, I could have gotten Galaxy 4, or Note 3 with smart watch, but I don't follow trend; I do my own thing with what I have learned.

iPhone is limited and it is way to marketable for what it does. I used iPhone 4 while I didn't have a contract with a phone company and it wasn't for me. Yes, many social media things seemed little bit easier but I can careless about that. I want phone that is targeted for future, not buy new phone when something new comes out. That statement is strongly for Samsung Galaxy. I do think Samsung Galaxy is a great phone, HOWEVER, it comes out with new phones too quick and leaves old users behind. I hated that aspect about Galaxy, even though I was dying to be one of the people with smart watch.

After doing  damn near a  month of research and looking at all the aspects, specs, and design and software of all  the new phones, it came down to two phones; HTC One which was slick, metal look with Beats By Dre stereo system, and full customization of homescreen. This one was close call  because I literally had to flip a coin for it. But, I didn't go with the HTC One, I went with, which is my new phone now.......

Moto X.
Maybe it is my obsession of Motorola, but this phone was something new and it looked promising.

Here is the blog on Moto X.

  1. We had the same starting phone. Haha! You know what, I really get why people like to perpetuate the meme and image that a 3390 is invincible. It has tremendous battery life versus current smart-phones, very hardy and easily replaceable parts. I have to admit though, it was really the hype back then. Anyway, you have a really cool new phone and I hope you're doing fine with it. Stay healthy, Paul!
