Act your age

Image
I remember a story my father told me once. It was about Abraham Lincoln; he had to choose a congress man/ or senator and he rejected one of the candidate because he didn't look his age. His assistant asked him "Are you really not going to pick him because he doesn't look his age?" and Abe Lincoln said "Person should look his age because the look defines the persons' experience". Older I get, I seem to be agreeing more with my parents and realize how foolish I have been. Of course, I would not change everything that happened to me, if anything, I'm glad all these events happened to me because it made me the man that I am today. But older you get, you need to really find yourself and who you are. I remember I use to wear size 40 pants, xxl tall tee, and hats almost fits 2 of my heads in it. Yes, I look at my old photos and laugh at it too. But, no regrets. It was ok for me to do that because I was young. My mother always said, "Do everything when ...

Truth is depends on p.o.v

Image
Have we not heard the phrase " beauty is eye of the beholder"? It's all in someone's point of view. I believe so many things makes a person, who they are. Starting from genetics to parents, hobbies, friends, interest, priorities, to your likes and dislikes; person is combination of so many things. So, of course, someones point of view is going to be different. You might understand the circumstance of situation by measuring it to your, personal, experience, but you won't ever understand the opposite, fully. Do you know that, in criminal case, witness are unreliable evidence? It means, even if you committed a crime and someone saw you doing it, but the physical evidence aren't there, you are eligible to be acquitted. Because the truth is really depends on P.O.V. Let's do a little test. Test 1: Michael Vick was found guilty for fighting dogs and there were dead dogs in his compound. What's you take on it? Is he guilty of animal cruelty and deserved to ...

To: Immigrants in America (Tips)

Image
Hello, My name is Paul J. Park. This blog is to help immigrants (from whatever country) adjust to America and it's culture. Shall we start? 1) Learn  English: They say "When you are in Rome, follow Roman's law" (or something like that). What makes you think that you can live in this country and not speak the language? I do not think they should let you take the driver test in anything except English. This is an English speaking country and you should do what the majority of people are doing. Of course, for older people it's harder to learn, I'm not talking about them, I'm talking about kids from age 5 - under 35. Learn English 2) Expect to see diversity of people: This country is known as the "Melting Pot" for a reason. You can find so many different ethnicity of people that you really need to watch what you are saying sometimes. This is not your motherland nor home country, this is place where people from all around come to live. So drop y...

YOLO: You Only Live Once...Serious, one of the dumbest statements out. I am not saying you get few lives like you are in a video game but that statement was almost an excuse for dumb kids to......well.....act more dumb. These kids are pushing their limits and trying to do something that is, sometimes, dangerous and reckless for the reason of YOLO. You know what happen when you keep trying to live by that statement? You life will end more early than you expected. Life is a journey, and there are certain steps you HAVE to take to see what's on the other side and to open some doors. If you don't, might as well just settle for working 8 hrs at fast food joint and rent a one bedroom apartment and just say "Fuck It". Why not? You think you are destine to become something? Well, if you do, why are you rushing life? Nothings comes good when you rush things. Life is steps, you have to take first step to get to the next and so on. I believe, athletes understand this more than a...

Style

Image
Style; what is style? Trend? Brand name clothing? If you ask me, style is within you. Doesn't matter you shop at Bloomingdale or JCPenny, you should dress the way you are, not what's hot right now. I use to be trend chaser; trying to follow all the great trend and do better at it. But, in senior year of high school, I realized "Fuck, why am I putting money in these companies pockets when I could just make my own clothes.", so I designed shirts during that year and few years more after. I didn't want to follow trend anymore. It cost too much, it was too tedious for me, if you ask. Style is within you; some style that is perfect for you, may not be the best for other. But, style is what makes you. Rather than trying to look like millions of people out there buying same damn clothes with same style, looking like page out of catalog, you should find your style and your inspiration. I , personally, am heavily influenced by Hip Hop and Jay-Z but I do have some culture a...

Walking on rope

Life gets hard....you look around and you see all these memories with all these people....but when the issue hit the heart, u are the only one standing with a your own shadow. we try to understand by trying to measure the circumstance with their own experiences but they never seem to get it right, don't they? Its almost like standing on a rope and every step jeopardize you faith. Only bullet away. But most of times, its not for you. You go on everyday try to fulfill your own goals with love ones on our mind. So in a sense, you live for them too. Its a bullet away. But what gives me a right to give my love ones another bad news. And you find yourself thinking about yourself again. You have to live for them. Be a person who his friends can be proud of. But it's hard. Life is hard. And, I feel drained. But can give up. Your friends or family won't fixed the problem, but they, surely, are there to give you support and confidence. So, live your life, not just for your sake, but...

Special: R.I.P Hayden

Image
Damn...Im here again, writing a blog that I wished to never write but life will throws these curve balls. I known Hayden ever since 8th grade from Redmond Jr. High. We played football together, he was really good at it, making to both Varsity and JV. But, I do not know Hayden because that, I remember us hanging out, going to Anthony's house together to just live life. young, wild, but still morally ethical. Yeah, we had fun.  But I knew we always didn't have a great relationship, we argued, but we grew next to each other, finding different world that suits each others personality. But, we were still a hand reach around from each other when we needed it one another . I guess, we drifted apart during our first to second year in high school. You had your crew and I had mine but we were meant to see each other and recognize each other and love each others accompany when the both of our worlds collided. Nothing but love to you. Now, if the readers don't mind, I like to write a l...
