Cellphone/ Mobile Phone buying guide/ tips

Cellphone; very essential item in our modern time for personal use. When we first saw cellphones being commercialized, we only needed it for emergency purpose, however that changed when smartphone was introduced and the idea of app became more important than buying 'idiot's guide' books. Now days, we pretty much handle everything on our phone; from e mails, calculator, painting, taking pictures, checking bank account, watching your diet, etc., etc..So buying a phone is more than just buying a phone; it's like buying a small laptop. And people should look at buying a phone just like you are buying a laptop. Here are some tips to help you.

1) Know what you use your phone for: Lot of people want the latest gadgets to brag to their friends. But phones aren't cheap like some batteries you can just exchange or change whenever you feel like. So, know you what you use your phone for. Many phones are coming out to cater specific people with specific purpose. If you use lot of social network, look for something that is quick. If you use your phone for taking pictures, find a phone with good Megapixels. If you use lot of E Mails and documents...maybe you need to look into phone company rather than phone for better coverage. Know what your are going to use for.

2) Read the specs: Specs are kind of hard to understand but if you know little about it like I do, it will help narrow down your choices. First, know what latest software for specific company. At this moment, Android is running Kit Kat and iPhone 6 will be running iOS 7. You want the latest one because these phones will often come up with upgrades. Resolution is important if you do lot of gaming or video watching. Understanding processor is kind of hard and that is something you might have to do little research. Last but not least, memory storage. If you like music like I do, you might need lot of storage to put them in.

3) Consider the price: Because it is expensive, that doesn't mean it's the top of the line. Many phones of Android were capable of doing what iPhone 4 was capable before iPhone came out, and they still manage to charge $300 minimum. So, read the specs and do some comparison. Way cheaper phones might lack few specs, but it can save you at $100. Many phone companies now have feature on their site to compare phones with specs you looking for.

4) Don't be fooled by the brand: "Oh it's Apple it's Samsung, it's LG.....even though these are popular brand as phone companies, they sometimes come out with.....shitty phones. Sometimes, they will come out with older software phones with less specs to target certain demographics. So, just because the phone is Samsung, that doesn't mean it's top of the line. Did you know Samsung Galaxy line have roughtly 20 different kinds of phone.

5) Deals: Sometimes phone companies have special deal with purchasing of new phone or starting a new contract. I was once received Samsung Tablet for free with purchase of new phone. Watch out, though. There might be a catch....there is always a catch.

6) Hold it: Don't just buy the phone over internet because it had better deal than buying at the store. Go to the store, hold it, feel it out, then order it online. Don't be stupid.

7) Don't follow trends because that is what companies are doing to you: Samsung and Apple is main culprit in this crime. Samsung Galaxy S line is known to be top notch phones. But really think about this.....you have 2 yr contract with the phone, and you end up getting a new phone with contract for free which actually means the price of phone will be added to your bill....but if Samsung is coming out with new Galaxy S line every year...hmmm, well you fell behind once again in tech world. Don't compete and don't follow. Use the tip 1 I told you about, buy a phone that fits you....Not what they advertise....Movies sometimes look better in trailer.

8) Ask questions: Talking to cell phone sales person is like talking to car sales person; they are on a mission to get you to sign up with them and phone is the bait. However, you should ask them question. Don't be persuade, just ask them. Ask them enough to pick their brain about the certain product so they forget to filter some items they didn't want to let customers know. Mind fuck them.

9)What company has better coverage and better deal: At this moment, At & T is following T - Mobile's style of "No Contract" style phone plans. However, it might not fit for everyone who wants family plan or other reasons. Sometimes your area might get better service from other company. Do your research on your local provider. In Seattle, T Mobile is great because the HQ is in Bellevue, WA. But when I brought the phone out to Pullman, WA (5 Mins. from Idaho), my T mobile phone started to lack. I have entered Sprint zone. Luckily I was able to join my friend's sprint phone plan.

10) For the future: Don't by the phone that will be cool and hip at this moment. Give yourself at least 2 years. Buy phones that will be able to keep up with future technology. When I bought MyTouch 4G in 2010, i looked at all specs and knew what I will use it for. This phone competed with any other phone that was coming out for next few years. If it's not the software, the phone would still be up there with latest released phones.

Now you got some tips of buying phone. Consider your situation before you get persuaded by the commercial.
