Act your age

Image
I remember a story my father told me once. It was about Abraham Lincoln; he had to choose a congress man/ or senator and he rejected one of the candidate because he didn't look his age. His assistant asked him "Are you really not going to pick him because he doesn't look his age?" and Abe Lincoln said "Person should look his age because the look defines the persons' experience". Older I get, I seem to be agreeing more with my parents and realize how foolish I have been. Of course, I would not change everything that happened to me, if anything, I'm glad all these events happened to me because it made me the man that I am today. But older you get, you need to really find yourself and who you are. I remember I use to wear size 40 pants, xxl tall tee, and hats almost fits 2 of my heads in it. Yes, I look at my old photos and laugh at it too. But, no regrets. It was ok for me to do that because I was young. My mother always said, "Do everything when ...

Truth is depends on p.o.v

Have we not heard the phrase " beauty is eye of the beholder"? It's all in someone's point of view. I believe so many things makes a person, who they are. Starting from genetics to parents, hobbies, friends, interest, priorities, to your likes and dislikes; person is combination of so many things. So, of course, someones point of view is going to be different. You might understand the circumstance of situation by measuring it to your, personal, experience, but you won't ever understand the opposite, fully. Do you know that, in criminal case, witness are unreliable evidence? It means, even if you committed a crime and someone saw you doing it, but the physical evidence aren't there, you are eligible to be acquitted. Because the truth is really depends on P.O.V. Let's do a little test. Test 1: Michael Vick was found guilty for fighting dogs and there were dead dogs in his compound. What's you take on it? Is he guilty of animal cruelty and deserved to ...

To: Immigrants in America (Tips)

Image
Hello, My name is Paul J. Park. This blog is to help immigrants (from whatever country) adjust to America and it's culture. Shall we start? 1) Learn  English: They say "When you are in Rome, follow Roman's law" (or something like that). What makes you think that you can live in this country and not speak the language? I do not think they should let you take the driver test in anything except English. This is an English speaking country and you should do what the majority of people are doing. Of course, for older people it's harder to learn, I'm not talking about them, I'm talking about kids from age 5 - under 35. Learn English 2) Expect to see diversity of people: This country is known as the "Melting Pot" for a reason. You can find so many different ethnicity of people that you really need to watch what you are saying sometimes. This is not your motherland nor home country, this is place where people from all around come to live. So drop y...

Because there is tomorrow.

YOLO: You Only Live Once...Serious, one of the dumbest statements out. I am not saying you get few lives like you are in a video game but that statement was almost an excuse for dumb kids to......well.....act more dumb. These kids are pushing their limits and trying to do something that is, sometimes, dangerous and reckless for the reason of YOLO. You know what happen when you keep trying to live by that statement? You life will end more early than you expected. Life is a journey, and there are certain steps you HAVE to take to see what's on the other side and to open some doors. If you don't, might as well just settle for working 8 hrs at fast food joint and rent a one bedroom apartment and just say "Fuck It". Why not? You think you are destine to become something? Well, if you do, why are you rushing life? Nothings comes good when you rush things. Life is steps, you have to take first step to get to the next and so on. I believe, athletes understand this more than a...
